The liquid crystalline molecule 6O.4 viewed by polarized microscopy just above room temperature. At this temperature, the material is a crystalline solid with lamellar ordering referred to as a Crystal H phase. At higher temperatures, the molecule forms lamellar Smectic B and Smectic A phases.
